What to Expect

Sundays at Gracecity are warm, engaging and relaxed. When you walk in, you may notice that the church if full of people of many different ethnic backgrounds. We love that our church reflects the cultural diversity of Tāmaki Makaurau. If you’re thinking about what is appropriate to wear, know that you are free and welcome to wear whatever you wish. Being a multicultural and multigenerational church, clothes on a Sunday can range from shorts and jandals to suits and ties. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest!

In total, a service is about 75 minutes in length. Though it may vary from time to time, services generally begin with the band leading the church in music – song lyrics are projected onto the screens so you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. These songs are generally contemporary Christian worship songs – click here to listen to the current playlist of songs we sing!

After the music portion of the service, our service hosts will update the church on things happening in our community, and we may witness child dedications, baptisms or testimonies during this time. Following this, one of our pastors will share an encouraging and hope-filled message from the Bible. We then fix our thoughts on Jesus through the consuming of bread and juice as we participate in The Lord’s Supper (communion).

At the end, we encourage everyone to stick around as we mingle over morning tea.

Gracecity Kids

We have something for kids from birth through to Year 9. They’ll experience music worship with the whole church before heading to the preschool, primary, and intermediate spaces for learning, play, and prayer. We have an amazing staff and volunteer team, who will care for and love your kids. We have Friday night ministries for intermediate and high school-aged youth.

Your children’s safety is of utmost importance to us. All our volunteers over the age of 16 are reference-checked, police-vetted, and have received child protection training. We have a digital check-in system to ensure every child is accounted for.

  • A private room upstairs for parents and caregivers of babies, which includes a change table, small range of toys, and a live stream of the service in the main auditorium.

  • This is a space for our preschoolers (aged 2-5 years) to dive deep into God’s big story and see how it points to Jesus and the gospel in every story. Our team of volunteers and parents teach our littlest ones through music, stories from the Bible, and engaging activities. Parents are welcome!

  • Our goal is to help youth know and encounter God, connect with others and discover their purpose. Absolutely everything we do is based around the foundational truth that Jesus is Lord, and that we are all designed to live in an intimate relationship with Him. As young people attend our youth programmes, they will learn who Jesus is, grow closer to God, have heaps of fun and create great relationships with each other!
